A thousand million photos of San Miguel de Allende would still not capture the magic or the essence of the people, the architecture, the history, and the food and art in this World Heritage city. Bring your walking shoes, this is a cobblestone mountain goat situation in San Miguel… Here’s a taste;

First stop, check in to a great little AirBnB, just up the hill (like, way way up the hill) with an easy walk down and plenty of taxis waiting to take you back up! This city has no shortage of scenic roof decks… Grab the mother-in-law, book a two bedroom complete with a maid, a guard gate, washer and dryer for $90 per night and it’s on!!

This Arch stood just outside Mrs. Jones front door… so much history to take in at every turn! It’s not really possible to blog San Miguel without some photos of the Parroquia de San Miguel Arcangel… crazy gorgeous.

One of the greatest things to do in San Miguel is to sit in the Jardin and just watch the people… or just hike all over the place and seek out the adventure, don’t miss the live music!

And then there are the colorful faces of San Miguel de Allende… Mrs. Jones could not head out without pockets full of change. Even those looking for a hand out have something of value to barter… music, snacks, crafts. If these faces don’t touch your heart, well, nothing will. Try not to pass by those that have already been passed by…

Let’s not leave out the greatest ex-pat community you could find anywhere! Mi casa es su casa is the best way to describe the hospitality Mrs. Jones encountered by these awesome people! First of all, sign up immediately for the Warren Hardy Spanish School located right in the heart of San Miguel and get yourself jabbering in Espanol! Mrs. Jones has soooo many thanks to awesome Warren and Tuli! And, what a warm and welcoming home they have created on a couple of acres in Mexico heaven! Muchas Gracias Amigos!!! Check it out!

Let’s not leave out the food!! If you are ever in San Miguel you CANNOT miss out of Don Felix’s restaurant – this place is only open on the weekends, and feels like you have walked into someone’s lovely home – somebody that can cook like nobody’s business… Get the steak, or the enchiladas Gloria – or both!

Or sit on the rooftop at Posadita’s in El Centro with a beautiful view of the Parroquia and be serenaded by this talented dad and son! Fun fact – right down the road in Autlan, Jalisco is where the great Carlos Santana was born! Sing this one home fellas…
placeholder://And finally, some outtakes and some updates… the outtakes are random, the update is a warning to NEVER drink the water! Mrs. Jones literally lost her shit in San Miguel… (she swears she had nothing to do with that whole Montezuma fiasco.) Just sayin’!

Time to head to the beach on the autobus with a stop in Guadalajara for the night! Here’s the bus update – pretty cozy!

Destination: Coconuts by the Sea (or sometimes called “heaven”). Adios Amigos!!
