Climbing down from Colorado to Missouri brought Mrs. Jones through the Great State of Kansas… those whirly bird windmill thingamajigs all over – and that’s about it. Truly and really. Not a damn thing to see in Kansas. I’m sorry Kansas, Mrs. Jones does not want to live there and is totally comprehending the entire Oz hallucination scenario… Might as well get all the mileage you can off the Wizard of Oz thing, highlights from the campground:

Bye Bye Kansas. Mrs. Jones harbors a touch of guilt for not touring the Eisenhower Library and Museum… but, pedal to the metal to bust through that state! Here comes Kansas City, Missouri, which turned out to be kind of a happening place.

Unfortunately, Mrs. Jones made a reservation at an RV park in Independence just outside of the happening Kansas City scene. And, this RV park was truly weird! Meanwhile, Independence, MO – well, just Bless Your Heart! If it wasn’t the hometown of Harry Truman, it’s hard to say how the town would be defined… But they’re just Wild About Harry!

This religious monument was hovering over our RV while staying in Independence… All of our sins were forgiven we think?

Time to check Bandsintown and quick!! How about a little Black Keys to perk up the night? Downtown Kansas City has had a real renaissance in kind of an Orlando sort of way… Super fun, lots of young people, here’s a peek:

Time to head into the Sprint Center right downtown and see The Black Keys! It was an awesome venue with great views from all of the seats with a sold out crowd. (And Mrs. Jones doesn’t really do big venues, so that’s a true complimentary review.)

A last shout out to this part of the world to the BBQ!! Mrs. Jones ate BBQ at all times on this leg of the journey, because she could. Check out A Little Barbecue Joint in Independence, MO! If you’re heading through town this place gets all the rave reviews from locals and lived up to it’s reputation! (The brisket was a little dry, just sayin’).

So long Kansas… Next stop Roots, Blues & BBQ in Columbia, MO. Way too much fun, but thankful for that towering spire of forgiveness that cleaned our slates in Independence…

P.S. Kansas blogging is a challenge.
