Thank God for the beautiful backdrop of Colorado! Had this been the Kansas leg of the journey, just sayin’… Mrs. Jones may have opted for a La Quinta Inn with Otter. But the extended family was once again saved by epic scenery, music, and too much fun! First stop, beautiful Aspen, Carbondale, and Basalt! Can you say nose bleed?

Check out the Hotel Jerome if you’re ever in Aspen – what a beautiful blast from the past! Quick side note, you probably can’t afford anything in any shop in Aspen… (Maybe Mrs. Jones should have washed her hair?) But the views are badass!

Next stop, Mrs. Jones had a date with John Prine at Red Rocks Ampitheater! So it was off to Denver! What a great city (some of it sideways) with an extended stay due to dragging the flat tow hitch from Aspen to Denver! OOPS…

Really, Mrs. Jones just can’t stop with the views from the passenger side window… These are the types of tucked in little towns along beautiful Route 70 East (as our trailer hitch danced and sparked down the highway behind us).

This was one of Mrs. Jones’ most anticipated parts of the trip – to see a show at Red Rocks Ampitheater, and what a show it was!! Here’s a taste for those who haven’t made it there yet! Put it on your schedule now! (You know, big rocks, then small rocks.) Check out the view from the Uber just heading into the venue;

Could this be the tree of forgiveness? Also, if you’re in General Admission you can still set up camp next to one of these trees and sneak a bit closer, you’re kinda sitting on the stairs but cozy enough…

Below the Red Rocks Ampitheater, Mrs. Jones found the stairs to a really cool music museum highlighting all the best Red Rock performances… How about the Beatles for Six bucks?

Oh yeah, then there’s the stage with a natural back drop of rock… creating the most perfect acoustics nature could design!

Humor Mrs. Jones for a minute and have a listen… this is John Prine accompanied by the Colorado Symphony! She is heading home!

Even the walk out is a barrel of fun! Well, actually everything is pretty fun for Mrs. Jones…

Off to a night in Denver! Mrs. Jones’ brother-in-law (he’s hip) stayed at The Ramble Hotel in Denver’s River North Art District (RiNO). Is he too cool for the RV scene in the suburbs or is he just recovering from the PTSD of Burning Man? The bar at the Ramble is Death and Co. and the bartenders there have NYC skills. Warning, this chapter is a bit blurry…

With a new (not cheap) Blue Ox flat tow hitch obtained, it was time to head out… Don’t miss Colorado Springs, Colorado City, and Manitou Springs! Man, this must be the weed capital of the world? Lots of silly grins around these parts… (No longer an illegal smile!)

Adam’s Mountain Cafe in Manitou Springs serves fresh, sustainable food if you’re into that kinda thing… (It would be vegan if not for the turkey sausage!). A short drive toward Old Colorado City found Mrs. Jones’ once again at a great outside live music event in the park!

Stop and watch some football at Mother Muff’s historic old Irish pub. So much evidence of that wild, Wild West!

Last chapter before saying goodbye to Colorado had Mrs. Jones hiking through heaven (mother-in-law in tow) in the Garden of the Gods – aptly named. There are a number of hikes available for the novice and the pro, crazy rock-climbing with guides, trolly tours, and even Segways! Check it out…

This is NOT Mrs. Jones climbing on this mountain.

With so much behind her, and so much still to come Mrs. Jones wonders how she can say goodbye to her cozy hiding place (free from Mother-in-laws). Maybe she can just live in the RV in the driveway back home…?

One quick final disclaimer; Mrs. Jones actually really enjoys her mother-in-law Cissie. Just having some fun with her in this blog. Who couldn’t love the proprietor of CoconutsbytheSea.com the coolest boutique hotel on the entire West coast of Mexico?

Heading east and leaving the nose bleeds behind… actually thrilled to see some flat, flat prairie land… One Shot of whiskey and off we go!
